Odisha sand artist Sudarshan Pattnaik uses art to spread Dengue awareness

Taking the cue from Dengue high alert in Northern India, Padma Shri winner and world renowned sand artist Sudarshan Pattnaik has used his skill and talent to create a sand sculpture to spread awareness about Dengue.

The Puri beach of Odisha is filled with messages such as "Stop Dengue, Act Now!", "If they will Breed, You will Bleed". There have been a few cases of Dengue in Odisha as well. Keeping that in mind, Sudarshan Pattnaik created a sculpture to warn people about the killer mosquito. The sand sculpture is 5 feet high and depicts a  man sleeping while a dengue mosquito bites him.

Four tons of sand was used to make it along with some coloured sand too. Sudarshan has also used the medium of sand sculpture to spread messages in the past as well. His sand sculpture on Black Taj Mahal earned him accolades from all over the world.

Many lives have been claimed by Dengue in the past few days, keeping the situation in mind Delhi government has cancelled the leaves of all doctors and paramedical staff including nurses and lab technicians.
