Odisha records highest number of malaria cases in the country in 2014 and reported the highest number of death from encephalitis, according to national health list 2015.
The list, released by the central bureau of health intelligence, reveals that Odisha recorded 116 deaths from encephalitis. Uttar Pradesh came in second position with 85 of 832 people suffering from the disease succumbing to it.

Total 14,395 cases and 511 deaths were reported across the country.

Among other diseases, Pneumonia killed 319 people in 2014, which was second highest after Delhi's 402.
Diarrhea diseases claimed 169 lives in the state in 2014 which is third highest in the country after 301 deaths of Uttar Pradesh and 200 in West Bengal.
